Netivot Shalom Congregation | Berkeley, CA

The congregation used an existing old Liquor store located on University Ave., to build its new home. It raised the whole roof 5 feet to get a second floor and one section of the roof was raised further to create a dramatic focal point for the sanctuary. The Congregation is co-sharing indoor and outdoor space with its neighbor the Montessori school. Additional spaces include administrative offices and classrooms. Courtyard walls, trellises and trees are shielding the building from the busy avenue noise. Mechanical Design Studio provided design-assist HVAC and plumbing engineering services.
