Newark's Fire Station # 1 is a two story essential facility. The new, 17,000 sqft fire station makes extensive use of masonry , and it is designed to be traditional but at the same time sympathetic to the surrounding urban area. The program includes 3 apparatus bays, 8 sleeping rooms, kitchen, study, day room and weight room. Supporting area add hazmat decontamination, laundry and oxygen storage rooms. The selection of the air distribution devices blends with the ceilings contributing to the elegant feel of the facility. Mechanical Design Studio provided full mechanical, plumbing and fire protection services.
