This unique facility provides information to travelers in the Eastern Sierra Nevada and Northern Mojave Desert. At this location one can view the highest peak in the "lower 48 states - Mt. Whitney and the lowest place in the western hemisphere - "Death Valley". The center has a book store and is operated by multiple federal, state and local government agencies. The design included geothermal heat pumps, light shelves, sun shades, reflective roofing and high performance fenestration and was awarded the PG&E Energy Efficiency award. MDS provided full mechanical and plumbing design engineering services.
